Austin, Texas…would You Ever Live Or Visit? Why?

What do you like about it? Not like?
Why would you ever or never go there?
Would I move there? IN A HEARTBEAT!!!
Nice climate (well, for 10 months of the year,) beautiful scenery, great parks, live music. Okay, so many people are moving there that I don’t want to rattle off all the obviously nice things about Austin before the whole world moves there. I learned about Austin not by word of mouth, but my randomly stumbling upon it on I-35 going from Dallas to San Antonio.
I didn’t mean to stop in Austin; it stopped me. Now I want to live there.
And, Texans (including many native Austinites) seem particularly friendly. They’re on par with many native Brits, Japanese, Koreans, and Indians I’ve met.
By the way, I’m NOT from California; I know half of Austin is now from California, so I thought I needed to point that out.

I live in Houston, so sure… I love Austin. I spent last Christmas there. The music and the local musicians down on Sixth St. is legendary, and the lakes nearby are always fun. Of course, the University if Texas is there, and it’s a city in itself. It’s always been a very laid back lifestyle, and some old hippies who went to U of T years ago years ago still live there.

I live near there, and i find Texas to be OK. There’s a lot to do, and the alamo is really nice to see. Just be warned that it gets really hot down here, so don’t come down here to live if you like cold weather :)

Well I live in Texas but not Austin. My bf lives there though. He goes to UT. He likes it a lot because of all the places to party and have a good time. I personally have just driven through it. But in Texas we love to eat and there are good places for that in Austin. He thinks people are more friendly where I live. Midland, TX. But whatever. Good luck! It would be an experience.

It’s too crowded and they drive too fast. If you’re not doing 80, they act like you’re a senior citizen! They don’t have medians, they have middle lanes with arrows…you just better know where you need to turn and not be up too far for on-coming turners…I lived there for exactly 3 months. I despised it…but part of it was cuz me and my hubby weren’t getting along and I wasn’t allowed to settle in good. (Bad memory!) I hate it there. I TRIED to get comfortable there, but thanks to him, I hightailed it back to Kansas like the Road Runner! (Pregnant, too!)…They’re not all THAT friendly! And the blacks act like it’s 1860 as far as being friendly goes…They act like their scared to speak!!! It sucks to me. But when I first visited there, BEFORE I moved there…I was just like you…I thought it was AWESOME!!! THA BOMB! NOT!!! But, their downtown night life is a barhopping good time, if that’s what you’re into…It’s almost like Tijuana!

i am sure i am going to go there one day to watch a longhorns football game. its something i have always wanted to do. but i doubt i would want to live there b/c it’s probably way too fast paced and crowded and traffic and stuff.
