$125 for Racing Mini School at Harris Hill Road in San Marcos ($250 Value)
Cars, like ballerinas and Tilt-A-Whirls, look younger when nicely groomed and don’t show what they’re really made of until you get them up to full speed. Test your odometer with today’s Groupon: for $125, you get admittance to the racing Mini School at Harris Hill Road in San Marcos (a $250 value). Harris Hill Road houses a 1.8-mile racetrack designed by track expert David Donovan that twists and turns 11 times through 150 feet of elevation changes, featuring a 962-foot straightaway and an 80-foot rise and drop in turn 4 named “Santa Rita.” Up to 10 determined drivers roll up in their own sportscars or sports sedans for an approximately two-hour school. Harris Hill’s speedy curriculum breaks into four sessions, starting with a classroom session where racers discuss safety and are introduced to car-control techniques useful on the racetrack, the street, and in the supermarket aisles. The intrepid instructors then familiarize their driving disciples with the track and their cars, teaching students how to coax speed out of their gearshifts and getting them on a first-name basis with their brake pads. Finally, Harris Hill Road unleashes rubber-burners on the track, accompanied by their instructors, to show what they’ve learned about safety, control, and speed. Drivers must wear long cotton pants and are encouraged to bring their own helmets along with their cars; if they don’t have a helmet, Harris Hill Road stores a loaner stock for students. Classes are scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. and are typically available one Friday, Saturday, and Sunday a month from May through August. The first class is available on April 22. Additional classes may be scheduled later in the season. Groupon Says The Groupon Guide to: The SATs Read more…

Cars.com Names Top American Cars
Today, the global economy makes it hard to point out which product is really American. Cars for example – most of the vehicles we drive have parts that come from outside the United States but are assembled here, thus the term, built in the United States. According to some observers, one factor that affects this is that some cars assembled in the U.S. from strictly American-made parts don’t sell very well, meaning that fewer Americans are building those models.
So which vehicles really, are the Top American Cars?
To help consumers identify the top ten vehicles which are truly the most American in terms of their parts (like GMC thermostat for instance), where they are produced, and their popularity with U.S. buyers, Cars.com recently released its updated American Made Index.
Cars.com’s American-Made Index highlights the cars that are built in the United States, have the highest amount of domestic parts, and are bought in the largest numbers by Americans. In order to make it to the list, cars must have a domestic-parts-content rating of 75 percent or more. Cars.com also used the figure alongside the window sticker of new cars to determine a car’s domestic parts content. If a car is going to be discontinued in the near future, it was also disqualified.
General Motors has a total of four cars on the list with Ford and Toyota each claiming three spots in the top ten. For more information about the American Made Index, visit Cars.com.

“With the large increase in the number of Toyota makes and models that are being built and sold in this country, it isn’t a surprise that the manufacturer now has three vehicles that made the top 10,” said cars.com managing editor, Patrick Olsen. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see more foreign makes and models on the list in the near future.”
