Concerts: San Antonio Symphony Holiday Pops

The San Antonio Symphony shuts the door on 2009 with its annual Holiday Pops concerts, conducted by Ken-David Masur and featuring much-loved songs sung by the Mastersingers and a musical rendering of “The Night Before Christmas.” A version aimed at kids, complete with interactive pre-concert activities, takes place Sunday.

The San Antonio Symphony is giving a free Veterans Day concert titled “Salute to Service.” The musicians will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “America the Beautiful” and “Hymn to the Fallen.” Resident conductor Ken-David Masur will lead the musicians; KONO radio host Dave Rios will serve as host.

The San Antonio Symphony kicks off its 2009-’10 Pops series with an evening of show tunes, sung by three tenors – Craig Schulman, Kevin Gray and Mark Jacoby – who have all played the title role in “The Phantom of the Opera.” Resident conductor Ken-David Masur will be at the podium.
